Working on a page the grid for the tablet sized page disappeared. All content is there, but the 3 columns, and like 30 lines grid is gone! The grids are still there for the PC sized and mobile sized grid?
How can I get the grid back, without hours of work?
Any help would be deeply appreciated, since I am on a tight deadline!
Thanks for the update. Great to hear you got it solved.
To answer your question about 'stepping back' -- there's a feature in Editor X you'll definitely want to use in the future. It allows you to revert to previous versions of your site.
To use it, choose 'Site' from the Editor X menu, and then click the 'Site History' option.
Once you pick 'site history', you'll get a list of site versions. A 'version' is stored whenever your site is saved. That may happen when Editor X automatically saves it or when you manually ask that it be saved.
At any time, you can pick one of these versions and restore it -- that is, make it your active version.
You can also rename the versions (by default, they just carry a timestamp) to make them easier to find and use.
Often, when I'm going to make some big changes -- or when I've got a portion of the site just right and don't want to accidentally mess it up -- I save a version and name it to clearly identify the status represented by that version (e.g. 'Product Repeater Final').
Note that these versions represent the layout. They don't represent (for example) the data in your collections. Stepping back to a prior version won't affect your data.
Note (in the next screenshot) that you can also use the dropdown to select only certain categories of versions, and you can flag ('star') versions to make them easier to find.
It´s sorted, with option 3, which luckily didn´t mess with the mobile version.
Thank you for your advice.
Firstly, the actual grid is gone. The elements, mainly text but also videos, are there, but - again - the underlaying grid is gone. I tried closing and restarting, nothing changed. When you write "stepping back", do you mean the "Undo" button, or something else?
We might be in different time zones, it´s 8.15 am here now :)
@Carlo , this might be a question for support. In the meantime, however...
First, have you tried closing out your session and restarting it, just to see if this is a glitch that could be fixed by a restart?
Also, a question. When you say the grid is gone, do you mean that when you select the section, you no longer have the option to 'edit' the grid, only to 'apply' a grid?
If that's the case, have you tried stepping back to a prior version in Site History? It might be that a very recent version -- one that wouldn't require a lot of re-work -- still has the grid.
You might also try re-applying the grid. I just experimented with that on a test section, and it was pretty messy -- realigning items to the new grid can impact the mobile version -- so that would definitely not be my first choice.
